One of the joys of international travel, as opposed to sitting at home in some dull day to day routine, and one of the especial joys of attending Music Festivals around the world as a musician and honored guest is the probability of coming across the unexpected. Don’t get me wrong. It’s times like these that I live for. That I have managed to earn a living as an artist for the best part of the past 26 years owes a great deal to the inspiration of these watershed moments. I would hate to think that my wry humor at the occurrences of the past couple of days would be taken in any kind of negative way. I say it again: THIS is what I live for!!!!! |

Well, I finally arrived in Sacheon, so the praying and gently reserved oh-so-English protestation to Mr. Jin must’ve worked…….. or something. Somewhere along the road we’d somehow hooked up with a couple more artists heading for the festival - Whiz kid drummer Tony Royston Jr, just in from Atlanta with his manager dad, Tony Royston. Strangely enough they had a story about being driven at speeds closing in on the ground speed world record, giving chase to someone driving a VW bug, and looked distinctly green around the gills. |

Arriving in Incheon [Seoul Airport] after a 10 hour flight from SFO on Korean Airlines I and my curiously shaped baggage – my didjeridus travel in a hard snowboard case these days, attracting little attention until someone tries to lift them – are subjected to little scrutiny as we cruise through S. Korean customs on a two week visit. My purpose here is primarily to perform at the 1st Annual Sacheon International Percussion Festival. |
